unexpected downtime host02 [fixed]

I’m sad to announce that all gameservers with the ip 91.196.169.124 (also known as host02.gamersway.nl) are offline for today.

For the last couple of days we’ve been coping with a denial of service (not distributed) on our call of duty games. Someone has been using an UDP exploit to badly influence the performance of our servers. Resulting in laggy servers, mostly during the evening.

During the implementation of protection measurements (an advanced firewall, complex rules and a ban on various IP’s) the server didn’t came online after a reboot. We’re sure this isn’t because of the new measurements, but we can’t see why this is happening yet.

Normally the server can be rescued through our internal IPMI network, but this isn’t working as well. Murphy’s law really applies here.

I want to tell you that every customer will get at least 3 weeks for free and that tomorrow morning (Fri Mar 9, approx 10:00AM) an engineer will hopefully boot the server in rescue mode at least. I expect the server to be up and running in the beginning of the evening, but I want to point out again that we can’t troubleshoot the server yet and that I’m only able to speculate right now. Please don’t plan any clanwars untill we announced the server is up and stable again.

Servers were back up again at March 9 15:00PM (GMT +1). IPMI is fixed and firewall implementations will probably be done on Saturday March 10. All customers will receive an email after the implementations are completed.

Gameservers with the ip 91.196.169.123 and 91.196.169.124 have lag issue’s. This is probably caused by a router failure.

Router has been replaced! Customers will be contacted for a compensation

Our management panel will be migrating to a different host upcoming sunday night. I expect some downtime but nothing to worry about.
